This semester the ASTRO Mechanical Team has one main focus - to get a rocket engine that will sustain a supersonic thrust for a burn time of 15 seconds. To do this, there are three main projects:

ASTRO is currently recruiting! We have projects for experienced VB/C++ coders, circuit designers, and a slew of possible MEng projects for both ECE, CS, and MAE majors. Its been quite a while since our last post. The rocket testing mentioned below was a blazing success. Not only did we achieve a sustained burn for more than three seconds, the nozzle of the rocket achieved super-sonic flow, a requirement for thrust. Assuming whether conditions hold, the ASTRO team will begin testing our second generation rockets in the upcoming weeks. We'll have pictures and results up on the website as soon as we can. Thursday, April 08, 2004
